INTRODUCTION and LEGEND: This E-commerce template is designed to help you sell on the public Internet successfully. Please note the following IMPORTANT template LEGEND:
(1) Blue text represents obvious hyper links, all of which require careful consideration before being altered or deleted. In particular, the hyperlink for Shopping.htm should be preserved for any e-commerce Web site project. The hyper link to CompanyInfo.asp, a page containing the all-important information for prospective shoppers about your company, should also be preserved. For each hyper link, you may edit the actual text and simply use the Link function to maintain the prevailing link.
(2) Red text represents informational text, such as the Banner, which contains no hyper links. You may change these objects in terms of font, size, etc. You may also create new hyper links with these text objects if you wish.
(3) Text in black (such as this text box) is purely informational in nature and should be DELETED before the template is uploaded to a Web server. In addition to these template "hints" you are strongly advised to read and save the page Read_Me.htm, which contains further instruction on customizing this template.
Template Hint #1: Please study the Site Manager (all five layout windows) before altering or deleting any template element. The Quick Start Guide contains a useful tutorial on WebShop basics, including the types of pages that WebShop can create. For example, this template home page, named index.htm is a Free page. The Site Manager, Logical Layout view displays all of the Web pages in an organizational chart view. Double-click on any of the page icons in order to view the page contents.
Template Hint #2: To customize the home page of this template, just click on an element to select it for moving to another location or for re-sizing. Double click on an element to enter Edit mode, wherein text can be changed or replaced.
Template Hint #3: This template contains the E-Commerce "engine." No transaction ability can be added to a plain WebShop template. In other words, you CANNOT add the E-commerce engine to a template. Therefore any WebShop project intended to be launched as a public Internet Web store MUST begin as a WebShop E-commerce template featuring the accompanying wizard.
Template Hint #4: This template contains a default Microsoft Access database file. Preserve this file. If you want to import an existing Microsoft Access database file, you MUST make sure you format your existing Access file to meet the format of the template's .mdb file BEFORE you make the import. In any case, you may edit, add or delete items in the template database before or after the import.
